Vijay Singh: Out of Top 50

Vijay Singh:For eighteen years, the PGA has held a spot in the top 50 for Vijay Singh. Not necessarily at number one or at number fifty but he has been an icon in the top 50 for eighteen long years. Now, he as slipped to number 51 in the world. Singh must get to work and quickly.
Vijay Singh did not qualify for the final 36 holes at the Texas Open and now his rank is suffering the consequences. That was five tournaments in a row that Singh had let get by him. The last time Singh fell out of the top 50, he came back to win the German Open the very next week. Singh holds the distinct honor of being the only player to hold the number one spot in the last ten years.

The only other player holding the top spot in the last decade is Tiger Woods. The horrible part of falling out of the top 50 is that Vijay Singh will need to find a way back in the top 50 or he will have to qualify to even play in the U.S. Open. The fact that Singh was able to be part of the top 50 for the last eighteen years but has now lost his position could help golf fans understand just how difficult some of the courses are playing right now. For now, no one seems to be conquering every course on the tour every time out.
