Indy 500: Helio Castroneves

Indy 500:If you are in Indianapolis right now, you are most likely involved in the 2010 Indy 500 in one way or another. Rain managed to keep the race cars off the track although some were able to make runs between showers. The top speed on the track on Sunday was 227.046 mph by Helio Castroneves. The cars will be back on the track through Thursday and then Friday kicks off the Fast Friday with Pole Day Saturday and Bump Day Sunday.

During practice this afternoon for the Indy 500, Brazi’s Mario Moraes crashed. He was not injured but Greg Beck, team owner, has announced that the numbers 98 and 99 cars will not be racing. Today Scott Dixon pulled te days top speed by making a 226.549 mph lap. Race fans are watching to see if former Formula 1 driver Takuma Sato will be able to break either the speed of Dixon or Castroneves.

Speaking of Scott Dixon, he is the 3/1 favorite to win the Indy 500 with Ryan Briscoe and Helio Castroneves following at 4/1. From there the odds drop quickly with Dario Franchitti at 9/2 and Tony Kanaan at 10/1. If you are feeling lucky, go ahead and take a look at Justin Wilson who crawls in at 100/1. Otherwise, it’s just best to go with who the racing world knows already as champions.
